VLC Media Player is a popular media player in all over the world due to support lots of format of file. In 1996, VideoLan project was started as an academic project. It was intended to consist of a client and server to stream videos across a campus network. VLC (Video Lan Client) was the client for the VideoLAN project and that’s why it is named VLC Media Player. It was developed by students at the Ecole Centrale Paris but now developed by contributors worldwide and is coordinated by the Video LAN non-profit organization.
